r N.Z. Press Association—Copyright

LONDON, January 8. Russia intended to “feel her way” into world tennis, pinning all her hopes on her best juniors, two of whom would compete at Wimbledon this year, the “Star’s’’ diarist said today. He was quoting the head of the Soviet State Tennis Section (Mr, Victor Kolegorsky) whom he had telephoned at Moscow after Moscow Radio had reported that Soviet players would play at Wimbledon in June and July. The diarist quoted Mr Kolegorsky as saying that the Soviet Union would be represented by 16-year-old Anna Dimitrieva, of Moscow, and either Andre Patanin, of Leningrad, or Sergei Lichachof, of Baku, both also 16. They would not be entered in the senior tournament, but <Uould play in the junior international tournament held during the second week of the Wimbledon championships.
