Training Operation In Jungle

The New Zealand troops cooperated with R.A.F. units, including a Valetta transport aeroplane, an Auster spotter and two helicopters, in the operation The New Zealanders dropped to a landing zone—a small jungle clearing—from a helicopter by means of a rope ladder. Later the R.A.F. Valetta carried out supply dropping and an Auster dropped flares and containers.
Jungle drills have been demonstrated to the New Zealand troops in the jungle by men of the Ist Battalion, Royal Lincolnshire Regiment.
