SIX-DAY RACE IN MELBOURNE

Sixteen two-man teams, including the New Zealand combination of John Robertson and Malcolm Simpson, will sprint off in March for the start of the six-day £ 10,000 international cycling classic at tha Melbourne Cycling Velodrome. It will be the first six-day cycling race in Melbourne for 43 years. Plans for it were completed today by the director of the velodrome, Mr T. Waterford, and the Olympic Board of Management The race will be held over three daily sessions—lo a.m. to 1 pjn.; 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and 6 p.m. to 2 a m. An eight-hour "neutralisation" period will rest the competitors. At each session, sprints for points and prizes will be held. The race will go to the team covering the greatest distance in the six days. If two or more teams are level on, distance at the finish, sprint will decide the winner.
