Car Leaves Road; Four Injured

GREYMOUTH, January 8. A bumble bee is believed to have been the cause of an accident near Mai Mai on the main highway to Reefton yesterday morning as a result of which four people were admitted to the Inangahua Hospital, Reefton, One of the occupants of the car, which left the road and tumbled into a 12ft ditch, Mr Norman Jones, secretary of the Grey Hospital Board, was said by the hospital authorities last evening to be in a serious condition, suffering from a fractured arm and chest injuries.
His wife suffered lacerations to her arms and face. Her sister. Miss Scott, of Greymouth, suffered lacerations of the face and another sister, Mrs McPherson, of Gisborne, suffered general lacerations. The condition of the three women was reported to be satisfactory. Traffic Officer L. Anderson, who visited the scene of the accident, said he understood a bee had entered the car as it was leaving a narrow bridge just before a right hand turn. The driver.
