DRIVER KILLED
Car Falls 200 ft Down
Steep Bank
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, January 8.
Francis Clement-Evans, aged 57, an engineer, was killed when the car he was driving left the road and fell down a steep bank about half a mile 1 south of the summit on the Upper Hutt side of the Akatarawa road yesterday afternoon.
Mr Clement-Evans was the sole occupant of the car, which, after leaving the road, dropped 200 ft before coming to rest against a tree. The car was thus prevented from falling another 150 ft to the bottom of a gully.
