SOVIET TALKS WITH BRITAIN
Moscow Radio’s Comment
(N.Z Press Association—Copyright > (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 29. The need for a meeting between the British and Soviet Prime Ministers was greater now than ever, the Moscow Radio said to-night ih a broadcast to Britain. A commentator recalled a letter sent by the Soviet Prime Minister (Marshal Bulganin) to Mr Macmillan this month suggesting that the two leaders should meet to discuss many controversial matters.
“The U.S.S.R. is decidedly for sych talks,” he said. ‘‘lts sole condition is that such talks should not be made dependent on any condition. To put forward conditions, such as making the disarmament problem dependent on a solution of the German problem, is to doom the talks to failure in advance.”
