Rain Interrupts - Play
(New Zealand Press Association) ' AUCKLAND, December 27. Rain ruined the first day of play in the national Brabin Cup cricket tournament at Eden Park today. The start was long delayed and a mist which turned into heavy rain stopped 1 play for the day at about 3 o’clock. Otago had use of a soft wicket and in spite of the early loss of J. Smith, was shaping well at stumps. Auckland lost P. Morris, its captain, to the fifth ball of the innings with Canterbury, but a 16-year-old Auckland Grammar School boy, R. Morgan, who is a leading candidate for the Auckland Plunket Shield team, gradually took command of the bowling and was unbeaten after , an outstanding innings. Scores:— Otago v.
