NORTH BEACH DRAMA CLUB

“Quiet Wedding” Presented Members of the North Beach Drama Club gave a bright per- : formance of Esther McCracken's! comedy “Quiet Wedding” at the! Linwood Intermediate School i hall last evening. Putting on a three-act play and in particular one which requires so numerous and varied a cast is always an ambitious undertaking for amateurs; in this presentation, however, the efforts of producer and actors have proved very rewarding. Nadia Dixon as Janet, the bride, though rather quiet in speech and manner, was sufficiently dispairing, especially in her encounters with her worried fiance. Dallas Chaytor. In this latter role John Partleton was always convincing. He conveyed very well the perplexities that arose from the unusual situation in which he found himself. For the part of Dems Royd this] company was fortunate in having! an actor with a lively sense of! comedy and one whose timing was] noticeably happy. Fred Partleton’s performance as Denis was I full of light and shade, and his rather sudden entrances were always welcome. As the mother of the bride. Red! Heywood, had as might be ex-| peeled, a great deal to do and a; great many lines to speak. After a little hesitation in the first act. she established the character in the minds of the audience and brought out the comedy of the part. So far all the characters in I "Quiet Wedding” appear to be 1 rather conventional types, but with Gaye Henderson’s portrayal of Flower the producer has provided an interesting contrast. Flower’s air of irritating assurance was cleverly suggested. Laurel Turton’s occasional appearances as Miranda were amusing, and Doris Brading captured effectively the demeanour lof the disillusioned family servant. Bella Other parts were itaken by Pat Rickard. May WhiteBetty Palmer. Renee Darby. John W. Green. Norman Heywood and Ray Wood.

“Quiet Wedding” was produced by N. L. Heywood, and this performance has been given by the North Beach Drama Club to augment the funds of the Linwood Intermediate School.
