Tooheys Earn Bigger Profit
Tooheys, Ltd., Sydney brewers, earned a net profit of £350.673 for the year to July 31. This is a rise of £28,039 on the previous year. The result is after depreciation, £228,164 (up £50,841), and unstated tax. Profit represents an earning rate of 8.9 per cent, on capital. The result includes £12,620 income from investments, a rise of £4OBO. Dividend is unchanged at 8 per cent., and absorbs £311,850.
Staff provident fund takes £7500 (up £2500). The company’s excise paid on sales has increased from 45 5 per cent, in 1938-39 to 74.6 per cent, in the latest year, the report shows.
Waltons.—The final call of lOd on the contributing shares is payable on February 1, 1958. The current year’s business and profit to date show’ satisfactory increases, according to an announcement from the company.— (P.A.)
