ROUTE TO THE MOON
Calculations In Russia (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) MOSCOW, October 20. Professor V. Dobronaravov claimed today that Soviet scientists had already calculated a route to the moon for a one-way trip lasting from one to five days. The professor, writing in a scientific newspaper, discusses sending radio-controlled rocket ships to the moon, with robot observers. He wrote that man's participation in inter-planetary flight would start as soon as the proper rockets and space suits had been designed and cadres of pilots trained in sustaining the state of weightlessness, had been formed The professor said it was hoped to equip future satellites with automatic steering and to design radio-controlled “satellite rockets’’ , which could switch from one orbit ! to another. Referring to the moon route, the professor said it was planned first to send unmanned rockets equipped with various automatic devices for photographing the hidden half of the moon and transmitting pictures to earth.
