Open Day At Avonside Girls’ High School
Nearly 500 pupils, former pupils, and friends of- the Avonside Girls’ High Schoo] attended an open day at the school on Saturday afternoon. The function wa« arranged by the Avonside Old Girls’ Association to raise fund- ! for a grand piano for the new assembly hall
Tennis and softball matches were played between past and present pupils. The Jennifer Burns Cup for tennis was won by the school. The old girls have held the cup for four years, and the school for three. The president of the Old Girls’ Association (Mrs R. N Poore) presented the gup to Helen Hamilton, representing the school.
