Conquistador And Wimpy Win

Conquistador raced in third place on the rails behind the pacemaker, Real Mackay and Leighton Lass, to the straight in the Geraldine Trot Handicap, challenged Real Mackay at the furlong and ran on strongly to win by a length from Darkest, which was also running on after being handy throughout. Becky Medoro was a neck back third. She had followed Conquistador throughout, but had difficulty in working clear in the straight and appeared unlucky not to have finished closer. The weakening pacemaker, Real Mackay. was two lengths behind Becky Medoro. and he was followed in by Diamond, which had shared the trail to the straight, Leighton Lags and Focal Point.

Focal Point. Spring Gully. Te Par. Rhonda’s Pride, Sangro and Gypsy Belle all broke at the start.

Easy for Wimpy Wimpy outclassed the field in the Winchester Trot Handicap drawing right away in the straight to win bv ! eight lengths from Chupra, with Gay Polka finishing on for thrid a neck back, a length and a half ahead of the weakening Rdsslyn Rowan. The rest, which were beaten right oft. were led in 10 lengths back by Kawa Jackaleen, Nikova, Spring. Chat. Kawa. Irish Wit and Surie Queen were all slow away. Rosslyn Rowan began best, but at the end of a furlong was eased to the trail behind Wimpy. Chupra and Long Range were following in Indian file, four lengths clear of Kawa. udth Gay Polka at the head of the rest, six lengths further back. Except that Chupra had moved j up to share the trail on the outside ! of Rosslyn Rowan the order was the! same to the half-mile. Racing to the straight Wimpy led Chupra by i two lengths, with the tiring Rosslyn Rowan four lengths back, a similaf distance ahead of Long Range and Kawa, and Gay Polka steadily making ground three lengths further back. Wimpy drew right away from Chupra over the concluding stages, and Gay Polka, continuing his run, wore down Rosslyn Rowan to take third place.
