Sub-Centre Meeting
Mrs W Tisch presided at the September meeting of the Red-Hiffs-Mount Pleasant sub-centre of the Red Cross Society at the home of Mrs H. Edgar. St. Andrews Hill.
Arrangements were completed 'or holding a cake and cooked food stall in Redcliffs earlv in October to help local Red Cross funds. Children's clothing, including baby clothes for immigrants, knitted comforts for the elderly sick, and used clothing were contributed. The following donations were anproved: £lO to comforts for 100 per cent, ill servicemen: £5 to disaster relief, £5 to the Good Neighbour Service. £1 10s Christmas gifts to Burwood Hospital and Rannerdale Home. £ll assessment to the North Canterbury centre of the Red Cross Society Miss T Eldridge, organiser for Junior Red Cross, spoke on Junior Red Cross work in primary schools and showed samples of toys and articles made by junior members to be sent to needy Children in Korea and elsewhere, and to leper patients.
