MAN FOUND DEAD
The body of a man who had been shot in the head was found on Coutts Island early yesterday morning. A firearm was lying near the body. The man was Mr Gordon James Morton, aged 40, of 143 Lower Styx road. Police made a search of Coutts Island late on Thursday evening after Mr Morton had failed to return home. He grazed cattle on the island.
An inquest was opened for identification yesterday before the Coroner (Mr E. B. E. Taylor).
