PRIZES OFFERED SHOPPERS
Christchurch Firm Fined £5 WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. When Lane Walker Rudkin, Ltd., manufacturers, of Christ-' church, offered prizes of clothing to the buyer of the 12,000,000 th pair of certain underwear they did not know they were committing an offence, said counsel, Mr W. L. Ellingham, in the Magistrate’s Court today. The firm through Mr Ellingham, pleaded guilty to establishing a scheme in which prizes were gained by certain customers by mode of chance and was fined £5 by Mr J. B. Thomson, S.M.
