DESTRUCTION OF RABBITS
Ashley Board Seeks Farmers’ Support An appeal has been made by the chairman of the Ashley Rabbit Board (Mr G. Harper) to land occupiers in the board’s territory to notify the board of the existence of rabbits. “Many hours of labour and miles of truck running could be saved if occupiers would notify the foreman of the existence of rabbits,” said Mr Harper. “This request has been made before but with only moderate success.” “Rabbits destroyed during the year were 2758, compared with 2201 for the same period last year,” said Mr Harper. “This is a clear indication that the pest is still with us in spite of the board’s activities.” “The pest is under pontrol but the staff position is difficult,” said Mr Harper. “Three rabbiters were engaged but in each case the period was of short duration.”
