LIBRARY PROPOSED AT CASHMERE
Facilities For Children Wanted The establishment of a children’s library in the Cashmere area is to be considered by the Heathcote County Council. The Cashmere Primary School Parent-teacher Association, in a letter received by the council, said that the librarian of the Christchurch Public Library had told the association that branch children’s libraries were encouraged provided they were subsidised by the local authority and were free to the children. After a survey of existing buildings in the district without success, the association reported it would be necessary to build a suitable room. It was decided that the Cashmere members of the council should investigate the question and report to the next meeting.
