PILLION RIDER KILLED

(Nero Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 1. A pillion rider on a motorcycle was killed about 9.20 a.m. on Saturday when the motorcycle struck the back of a stationary cream-truck on the State highway near Ohaeawai. He was: Boxer Kanuta, aged 24, single, of Tauroro. The rider of the motor-cycle, Mr Henry Padlie, was admitted to the Kawakawa Hospital suffering from concussion. Later, a station waggon driven by Mr Matthew Whitelaw, the employer of Mr Kanuta, left the road at Jacob’s Ladder, near Kaikohe, and rolled down a 130-foot bank. Mr Whitelaw was returning from Kaiwaka where he had gone to pick up Mr Kanuta's brothers, one of whom was. injured. The others escaped with minor injuries.

Struck On Head By Crane Handle While assisting in the demolition of a building on the reclaimed ground at Lyttelton yesterdav afternoon, a young man. Erian Eastgate, of 14 Allard street. St. Albans, received head injuries when the handle t of a manual crane flew around and struck him. After receiving attention at the casualty ward, Lyttelton,, he was taken by a St. John ambulance to Christchurch Hospital, where he was admitted. His condition late last evening was reported as being satisfactory.

Power-Cyclist Injured Miss M. Eggleton, of .81 Durham street, suffered leg injuries when a power cycle she was riding hit a bridge at the corner of Gloucester street and Oxford tprrace at 3.15 p.m. yesterday She was admitted to hospital. Car Rolls Over When a car rolled over in Wainoni road, near the Bower Bridge, about 5.49 p.m. on Saturday, Mrs E. Sumner, of the Aranui Motor Camp, suffered minor injuries and shock. She was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital
