RUBBER WORKERS’ AWARD
Settlement In Conciliation
The Conciliation Court proceedings of the Canterbury Rubber Workers’ Union, which began on Wednesday, ended on Friday with a complete settlement, said the advocate for the employers (Mr H. F. Butland). All adult male workers have been granted a wage increase of 5s a week, and all junior males and all females will receive an increase of 3s 4d a week. The rate for female leading hands has been increased to 15s a week. Amendments were made to machinery clauses in the award. The new award will operate for one year from August 12. The hearing was before the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr A B. Rigg). Mr A. B. Grant was advocate for the union.
