THE INEFFICIENT FARMER

The inefficient farmer is apparently not tolerated in Britain. Quoting from a recent issue of the “Farmer and Stockbreeder” (London). “Mr E. A. Gabriel has lost his appeal against a notice to quit the 218-acre Sheffield Hall farm, Essex, which he had rented for more than 27 years. The landlords who served the notice to quit claimed that Mr Gabriel was inefficient. He denied this, and complained of the choked condition of the ditches.” The Land Tribunal which heard the case ruled against the tenant. It is just as well for some New Zealand farmers that the inefficient farmer in the Dominion cannot be called to account before a legal tribunal.
