The castle 'at Cape Town will soon replace the Crown as an emblem used in badges of rank in the South African Army, the Defence Department journal “Commando” announced. A bill which would abolish the Union Jack as one of South Africa’s two official flags would also imply the abolition of "God Save the Queen” as one of the country’s national anthems, the Minister of the Interior (Dr. E. Donges) said yesterday. He was x speaking in the House of Assembly during a debate on a private member’s bill which would make the Union flag of South Africa the national emblem. The Justice Minister (Dr. C. Swart) announced that the bill would be given priority on Monday.
