EGYPT’S STAND

(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK. March 3. The Egyptian delegation spokesman at the United Nations headquarters, Mr Abdul Mawgood Hassan, said on Saturday that Egypt should be enabled to return soon to the Gaza Strip and that the Straits of Tiran into the Gulf of Aqaba were “Egyptian territorial waters.” He thus brought into question the two assumptions on which Israel has based its decision to withdraw troops from the Gaza Strip and from the Sharm el Sheikh area of Egypt, overlooking the Straits of Tiran and commanding access to the Gulf of Aqaba.
