Automatic Landings On Carrier
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BUFFALO (New York), Mar. 2. The. pilot sat with hands on knees while a United States Navy jet fighter landed itself yesterday. An intricate combination of radar, radio, • and an electronic brain on the ground, flew the Douglas F3D to a perfect landing. The system, for use on aircraftcarriers, has been tested more than 1200 times on land and will be taken to »ea this year for tests.
