Sir.—Mr John Burbridge wrote about communism. Anti-com-munism consists of free speech, democracy. and life without secret police. But communism consists of putting innocent people into concentration camps, where, at the very moment, there are millions. I fail to see that communism has done any good to anybody. Everybody should now know that workers’ conditions in the Communist countries are very poor.—Yours, etc., N.M.D. January 17, 1957.

Sir.—John Burbridge supposes those who oppose Communism are victims of an insane delusion. Rather. I think, we would be insane if we did not care, if we let freedom bow before slavery. Communism is the most evil doctrine ever offered to man. It allows for force, massacre, slavery, and the liquidation of all its opponents. Its essence is atheism; therefore, religious persecutions are practised on persons in the “people’s democracy.” Is it insanity to oppose such an evil doctrine? If John Burbridge still thinks so. he, truly, is the deluded one. As to social progress, there are millions behind the Iron Curtain who will vouch that Communism has nothing social to offer except miserable slavery for the people, and vodka for the murderers, the tyrants, the oppressors. That was the condition which prompted the French Revolution in the eighteenth century, and the Hungarian revolution this century.—Yours, etc., AM. January 17, 1957.
