PUBLIC NOTICES CANTERBURY EDUCATION BOARD. GILBERTHORPES ROAD SCHOOL "ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE” Whereas a new school district known at the present time as the Gilberthorpes Road School District was formed in the Christchurch Combined Group of Wards of the Canterbury Education District as from February 4. 1957. in accordance with the boundaries described below, the Board in pursuance of the powers conferred by "The Education Act" 1914 and its amendments hereby directs that a Public Meeting of Householders be held in the Gilberthorpes Road School on Monday, February 11. at 7.30 p.m. for the purpose of electing a school committee. It is further directed that as the anticipated enrolments when the school opens on February 4. 1957 will be more than one hundred but less than two hundred, the number of members to be elected shall be SEVEN. The electors shall be Householders as defined by the Act and Householders should send to the Secre-tary-Manager. Canterbury Education Board. P.O. Box 349. Christchurch in writing on or before Monday. February 4 not later than 8 p.m. the names of persons being householders nominated by them to serve on the Committee. Such nominations must be signed by the Proposer and by the Candidate, and must be in the form set forth in the Third Schedule to the Act or to the effect thereof Nomination forms may be obtained at the Board's Office, or at the school. In addition to such written nominations any Householder present at the meeting may verbally nominate any Householder who consents by word of mouth or in writing to be nominated. The Committee elected will hold office until April, 1957. "Householders” in relation to the election of members of a School Committee means:— (a) Every adult male or female person who has for the period of three months before the day of election resided in any dwellinghouse within the school district as owner or tenant thereof; and (b) The father, wherever resident, or, if dead or absent from New Zealand, the guardian or other person, wherever resident who has the actual custodj' of any child who will be attending the new school at the beginning of the new term. (c) The husband or wife of any person referred to in paragraphs (a) or (b). BOUNDARIES OF SCHOOL DISTRICT. From the Junction of Buchanans road and Carmen road south-west-wards along Carmen road but excluding both sides of this road, thence along Tirangi street, taking in both sides of the road and crossing Hei Hei road to Manurere street; thence along Manurere street taking in both sides of the street in a south-westerly direction to Wycola avenue but excluding the houses facing on Wycola avenue; thence in a north-westerly direction across Gilberthorpes road and along the northern boundary of No. 89 Gilberthorpes road to a point about 15 chains from Gilberthorpes road; thence in a south-westerly direction to Roberts road; thence along Roberts road in a north-westerly direction to Pound road but excluding both sides of Roberts road; thence along Pound road to Buchanans road; thence along Buchanans road in a south-easterly direction for a distance of 35 chains; thence across country from this point in a straight line to Yaldhurst road to a point 50 chains from the junction with Russley road; thence along Russley road in a north-easterly direction taking in both sides of the road to Dinton -street; thence along Dinton street to Foyant street taking in both sides of the road; thence along Foyant street taking in both sides along the full length of this street to the junction with Yaldhurst road; thence along Carmen road in a south-westerly direction taking In both sides of the road to the junction with Buchanans road.

It is further directed that as the anticipated enrolments when the school opens on 4th February, 1957, will be more than two hundred the number of members to be elected shall be nine. The electors shall be Householders as defined by the Act, and Householders should send to the SecretaryManager. Canterbury Education Board. P.O. From the junction of the Styx river and the Main North railway line in a southerly direction following the railway line to the junction with Langdons road; thence northwestwards along Langdons road taking in both sides to Chapel street; thence down Chapel street in a couth-westerly direction taking in both sides to Harewood road thence along Harewood road in a southeasterly direction taking in both sides to Matsons avenue; thence along Matsons avenue in a southwesterly direction taking in both sides to the junction with the stream (Dudley) opposite Windermere road; thence* following the stream to the junction with Greers road; thence along Greers road in a north-east-erly direction taking in both sides to Harewood road; thence along Harewood road taking in both sides to Highstead road; thence along Highstead road taking in both side" l to Stvx Mill road; thence along Styx Mill road taking in both sides to' the south-east corner of Section 277: thence along the eastern boundary of section 277 to the Styx river; thence following the Styx river to the starting point.
