PUBLIC NOTICES CANTERBURY EDUCATION BOARD BOWER AVENUE SCHOOL ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE WHEREAS a new school district known at the present time as the Bower Avenue School District formed in the Christchurch Combined Group of Wards of the Canterbury Education District as from 4th February, 1957. in accordance with the boundaries described b>low, the Board in pursuance of the powers conferred by “The Education Act." 1914. and its amendments hereby directs that a Public Meeting of Householders be held in the Bower Avenue School on Monday, 11th February at 7.30 p.m.. for the purpose of electing a school committee. It is further directed that as the anticipated enrolments when the school opens on February 4, 1957, will be more than two hundred.-the number of members to be elected shall be NINE. The electors shall be Householders as defined by the Act and Householders should send to the SecretaryManager. Canterbury Education Board. P.O. Box 349, Christchurch, in writing on or before Monday, 4tn February, not later than 8 p.m.. the names of persons being householders nominated by them to serve on the Committee. Such nominations must be signed by the Proposer and by the Candidate, and must be in the form set forth In the Third Schedule to the Act or the effect thereof. Nomination forms may be obtained at the Board s Office, or at the school. The Committee elected will hold office until April, 1957. "Householder” in relation to the election of members of a School Committee means:— (a) Every adult male or female person who has for the period of three months before the day of election RESIDED in any dwellinghouse within the school district as OWNER or TENANT thereof; and (b) The father, wherever resident, or, if dead or absent from New Zealand, the guardian or other person, wherever resident, who has the actual custody of any child who will be attending the new school at the beginning of the new term. (c) The husband or wife of any person referred to in paragraphs (a) or (b). BOUNDARIES OF SCHOOL DISTRICT From the Junction of In woods road and Reeves road in a southerly

direction taking in both sides of the road to Frosts road; thence along Frosts road taking in both sides of the road in a southerly direction to Travis road; thence across Travis road and proceeding In a southerly direction to meet New Brighton road at a point about two hundred yards west of Barkers road; thence in an easterly direction along New Brighton road taking in both sides of the road to Bower avenue; thence along Bower avenue in a northerly direction taking in both sides of the road to Beach road; thence in an easterly direction along Beach road taking in both sides of the road for a distance of approximately 12 chains; thence back along Beach road to the junction with Bower avenue; thence along Bower avenue in a northerly direction taking in both sides of the road to the junction with Inwoods road: thence along Inwoods road in a south-easterly direction to the junction with Reeves road.
