UNESCO CONFERENCE IN INDIA
THREE MAJOR PROJECTS APPROVED (New Zealana Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 25. The ninth session of the general conference of UNESCO in New Delhi was different from many he had attended, said Dr. C. E. Beeby, Director of Education and leader of the New Zealand delegation to the conference. Dr. Beeby said the conference opened at the beginning of the recent world crisis, and there was a growing tendency for groups of countries to vote in blocs. The conference concentrated on increasing the proportion of the resources on three major projects. They were the scientific research into the arid zones, the helping of teacher training in Latin America, and the third, which was the most enthusiastically supported of all, was aimed at increasing the mutual understanding of East and West, he said.
