FLATS ATTACHED TO RESTAURANT
WELLINGTON FIRM’S PLANS •The Press' Special Service WELLINGTON, December 24. A high-class restaurant surmounted by four large, two-bedroom flats is to be built on a vacant section In Orlentai parade, which has been up for sale for several years at £4OOO. The section frontage on Oriental parade is a rock face, above which is an undulating site. A portion of the rock face is to be excavated before building is begun at the end of January. The firm for whom the building is being erected plans to sell the flats outright for about £6500 each and the restaurant for £7OOO. The base of the building will be an open car port, which will accommodate three large or four small cars. A restaurant of 1100 square feet—sufficient room for about 55 customers—will occupy the first floor and the four flats will be on top, one flat to each storey. The flats will be served by a lift and will have an indenendent entrance to the restaurant. They are all 900 square feet in area. Facilities are to be provided to enable the restaurant to send up meals for flat tenants if desired. The restaurant is expected to do its main trade in the evening, catering mainly for theatregoers. The building is expected to be completed in September.
