Visit To ‘Sunken’ Battleship
(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) PARIS. December 22.
French authorities flew seven captured Egyptian officers from Port Said to Toulon to show them the battleship Jean Bart, which the Egyptians claimed to have sunk.
While aboard the ship, which their leaders claimed was at the bottom of the Mediterranean, the Egyptians gave radio interviews to the French Radio’s Middle East Service, saying that they were aboard the Jean Bart and were being well treated.
The seven men were later flown back to Port Said to be released in a prisoner exchange.
