MEETING AT WESTPORT
HONEST CHARLES FOR FIRST LEG
The reappearance of Honest Charles in the Westport Handicap, the first leg of the double, will be the highlight of the first day of the Westport Trotting Club’s annual meeting on Wednesday. He has' been off the scene since last January, but is reported to have got through useful tasks iii recent weeks. If anywhere near his best, he should prove a class above his opponents on Wednesday. Most opposition to him may come from Aerophlite, a winner at her last three starts. She raced well at the Methven trials last week and will have more than an outside chance. Cobina and Drioli make most appeal of the remainder. Selections are:— 11.30 a.m.—Pain Handicap: Marawiti. Front Rank. Delight. 12.15 p.m.—Hagedorn Handicap: First division—Prim, Johnny Hall, Scrooge. Second division—Pageantry, Dansey Lady, Travalon. 1 p.m.—Scanlon Handicap: Dominion Monarch, Nikova, Omega. 1.45 p.m. Westport Handicap: Honest Charles, Aerophlite, Cobina. 2.30 p.m.—Roche Handicap: Front Rank, Marawiti, Delight. 3.15 p.m.—Williams Handicap: Dansey Lady, Prim, Pageantry. 4 p.m.—Gothard Handicap: Mile Post, Dominion Monarch, Omega. 4.45 p.m.—President’s Handicap: Honest Charles, Aerophlite, Scoot.
