CHEVIOT TRUST HOTEL
ALL MONEY RAISED FOR PROJECT All the £40,200 required to finance the Cheviot trust hotel has been raised by the Cheviot Licensing Trust. It expects that a building contract will be let early in the New Year, and that building will commence on February 1. A meeting of the trust held on Thursday accepted applications for the whole of the £14,000 first mortgage. About half the first mortgage was being obtained from residents of the Cheviot county, it was reported. With the amounts subscribed as debentures, that meant that the people of Cheviot had contributed nearly £20,000 of the money lequired. The hotel will be built on the Main North road about 200 yards north of the Post Office. It will be a singlestoried building in an H-shape. It will be built m reinforced concrete blocks—a type of construction used in California, where the earthquake risk is similar to Cheviot’s. There will be accommodation for 12 guests in four double and four single rooms. Two rooms have bathrooms attached. The trust expects that building the hotel will take from a year to 14 months. (
