RAIL TRAFFIC DELAYED
ACCIDENT NEAR BALCLUTHA
(New Zealana Press Association) DUNEDIN, November 16. The engine of a goods train was partly derailed at Benhar, near Balclutha, at 3.25 p.m. today, and blocked the main line to Invercargill for two hours. Both the north-bound railcar and the south-bound express were delayed. Only two wheels of the tender left the line before the driver managed to halt the train. Maintenance crews cleared the line by 5.30 p.m. The Invercargill-Christchurch railcar. scheduled to arrive at Dunedin at 5.15 p.m., was held up. Passengers for Dunedin and stations further north were brought to Dunedin by service car. Christchurch-bound passengers were taken to Oamaru, where a doubleunit rail-car from Christchurch was divided, one unit continuing south and the other returning with the northern oassengers to Christchurch. The delayed rail-car reached Dunedin about 8.30 p.m. The express from Dunedin to Invercargill was delayed for an hour.
