HEREFORD WORLD CONFERENCE
A world conference of Hereford cattle breeders, at which New Zealand is to be represented, will be held at Buenos Aires on July 18, 19, and 20 of this year. Delegates from all the principal beef-raising countries will attend this conference, which is the second of its kind. The first world conference of Hereford cattlemen was held at Hereford, England, and resulted in the formation of an international organisation of Hereford breeders. Principal object of this year’s conference will be to discuss ways and means of improving the breed to an even higher standard than that already attained. Two controversial subjects to be discussed are Polled Herefords and artificial insemination, and it is hoped that a world policy will be formulated for the guidance of breeders, on these two subjects. Consideration will also be given to the acceptance by the conference of the New Zealand and South African Hereford Herd Book records.
