FESTIVAL WHEAT
Remarkably high quality flour had been obtained from samples of Festival wheat grown in the Riverina district of New South Wales this season, according to reports from the wheat consultant to the New South Wales Flour Millers’ Council. The gluten content of Festival wheat was 12.27 per cent., with an absorption figure of 58.4, and it was considered that it would be a likely variety to help improve the quality of flour in the south and west of New South Wales. Northern parts of the State had grown Festival wheat for many years, and it had proved to be a producer of great I baking-quality flour.
