COURT SUIT BY U.S. BREEDER

Cancellation Of Deal Sought An American breeder. Samuel Feinberg, who gave the dam of the Kentucky Derby winner Needles and two other brood mares to Dickey Stables four years ago, sued in the Federal Court recently to cancel the arrangement. Reinberg’s suit said he made the agreement with William E. Leach, then the owner of Dickey Stables, while he was in bed recovering from a heart attack and had cataracts on his eyes. Leach, said Feinberg’s complaint, “has profited by nearly 500,000 dollars from benefits received under the agreement" while Feinberg was left with only 25.000 dollars and one foal. The agreement, signed in 1952, gave Leach the mares Noodle Soup, which produced Needles in 1953. Sis Brier, and. Carol Lee. Feinberg was to receive the foal of each mare. Noodle Soup’s third foal was born last year and given to Feinberg, who sold it to New York interests for 25.000 dollars. The suit claims Leach took advantage of Feinberg because of his physical condition. Feinberg wants to reimburse Leach for all his expenses, take back the mares and have the Court decide what to do with the money Leach made from the sale of other foals, including Needs, winner of more than 500,000 dollars.
