IMPERIAL PREFERENCE
Sir.—Mr J. D. Ormond, the chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, is to be congratulated on his statement on the GATT and Imperial preference. In branding GATT as “sheer madness.” he will, no doubt, qualify for a special leading article in "The Press.” To openly point the finger at “certain interests in London, in what is known as The City’.” he will, do doubt, earn the displeasure of orthodoxy and gradually fade from the public scene. Mr Ormond could have taken just one further fatal step. He could have explained that “The Citv of London” (or the banking and financial section of England) is so deeply mortgaged to the dollar imperialists that it is a mere agency for dollar despotism. Men of courage ana patriotism are needed to break the dollar deadlock. It is useless to rely on the puppet party politicians who are so willing to sell our people into dollar bondage.—Yours, etc-. GEO. M. EDMONDS. June 28. 1956.
