SOCIALISM
Sir.—Our economy is running riot, in spite of attempts to hide the facts. Now there is news of thousands of men being stood down in the motor-car industry in England. The sensible scheme would be to plan, in a social manner, the number of cars required in advance, and not go on producing them until there is a glut. The extensive profits gathered in by a few individuals are really the property of the nation, to be spent for the wellbeing of everyone. As soon as the working man realises this, the sooner we shall have socialism.—Yours, etc., P.J.A. I June 29. 1956.
