DETUSKING OF BOARS
The committee of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association is concerned that in some cases boars were not being detusked. Consequently all branches have been written to asking them to see that a rule relating to detusking is included in the schedules of shows in their areas. The danger could not be lightly stressed, it was stated, when it was indicated that over the years one or two bad cases had occurred of attendants having had wounds inflicted by the tusks of boars. One member went so far as to say that all future entries should be barred to boars with tusks. *
