FIRING OF SHOTS IN STREET
MAN REMANDED FOR I SENTENCE (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 11. A shooting incident in Devonport on Saturday was described in the Magistrate’s Court today when Lawrence | Wallace, aged 20, an apprentice electn- I cian, admitted the theft of a .38 revolver, unlawful possession of a revolver and ammunition, and discharging a revolver in a street so as to endanger or frighten passers-by. Mr H. Jenner I Wily, S.M., remanded him a week fori Sub-Inspector J. W. Hill said that the accused, who had been drinking, arrived at his home in Ascot avenue about 6.30 p.m. His mother heard, shots, and found him sitting on a bed ’ holding a revolver. His father entered, and the accused ordered him out of the | rooip. The accused went out into the, street and fired three more shots. It | was not clear whether he fired at his father, who followed him into the street, Sub-Inspector Hill said. Police searched for the accused, who disappeared until 11 p.m., when he returned home.
