PLAN TO OPEN SCHOOL OF BALLET
One of the leading ballerinas of Sad ler’s Wells Ballet, Violetta Elvin, wil
make her farewell appearance with the company on June 23 in the role of Princess Aurora in “The Sleeping Princess.” in which she alternates with Dame Margot Fonteyn.
Soon after her last performance, Violetta Elvin will marry an Italian lawyer. Mr Fernando Savaresi. They will live in Naples. Violetta Elvin met her future husband when she appeared as a guest artist at La Scala. Milan, three years ago. Since then, she has visited Italy many times. After her marriage, she plans to open a school of ballet in Naples, if she can obtain permission under Italian law to teach dancing, as she is not a member of the Italian National Academy of Dancing. Born in Russia and trained in one of its leading ballet schools, she left her homeland and became a British subject when she married ..Mr Harold Elvin in 1942. Soon after she arrived in Britain she joined the Sadler’s Wells Ballet, and became one of the leading artists. Her marriage to Mr Elvin was dissolved about five years ago.
