IMPERIAL PREFERENCE
Sir, —“L.G.” is rather unfair in judging other Social Crediters by my standards. I feel no pride in defending Imperial preference against G.A T.T On the contrary. I feel disgusted that such a stand is necessary among British people. Champions of G.A T.T . through a peculiar inversion of cause and effect, would blame preferences for the economic crash of the thirties They appear to believe that the Ottawa Conference of 1932 was instrumental in causing the economic crisis of 1931. There is nothing very new in the aims of G.A.T;T. Similar restrictive controls were slammed on Europe and the British Commonwealth after World War I, with lamentable consequences. “L.G.’’ has as much right to agree with “The Press’’ on this subject as I have to disagree, and It is to lhe eternal credit of “The Press’’ that it accepts such criticism —Yours, etc..
