COCKTAIL PARTY

OVERSEAS LEAGUE ENTERTAINS

The first of a series of four cocktail parties to be held during the winter by the Christchurch branch of the Overseas League, was held early last evening in the clubrooms. The club’s membership has increased during the year and last evening’s gathering afforded an opportunity for the new members to meet for an informal chat. Members of the women’s executive were the hostesses, and Mrs A. S. Bailey received the guests. She wore a smart fitting frock of black wool romaine, and a small black velvet hat with a matching eye veil-. The guests of honour were Mr D. W. Bain, Dominion secretary ol the league, and Mrs Bain. Bowls of hydrangeas, everlasting daisies, and branches of greenery decorated the rooms. On the tables were lighted candles set on low bowls of bright red and white flowers.
