Avonside’s Tennis Loss To Ashburton

Ashburton tennis could gain* much through the transfer from Christchurch of Mr and Mrs H. R. Fuller, ;wo prominent members of the Avon;ide Tennis Club.

As secretary of the club for the last five years, and also convener of the coaching committee for several seasons, Mr Fuller, through his experience and enthusiasm, has done a great deal towards giving the Avonside club the prominence it holds in Canterbury -tennis- today. A former club champion on more than one occasion, ‘even at the age of 42 he is still a force to be reckoned with, as less experienced opponents have often., found to their cost.

Mrsr Fuller, club captain and founder of the recently-formed Avonside Ladies’ Mid-Week Club, which has an enthusiastic membership of 30. will also leave a gap that will be hard to fill. It is understood that Mr and Mrs Fuller will continue to take an active interest in tennis in Ashburton.
