INJURED RUGBY PLAYERS

University will be weakened for its key match with Marist on Saturday. The five-eighths, J. Park, suffered a broken nose last week and the backranker, H. Burry, wrenched a shoulder when playing for Canterbury against the West Coast last Monday. Marist is reported to be at full strength. Senior Rugby coaches supplied the tollowing information on injuries to players in recent matches:—

The Christchurch centre threequarter, I. McDonald, broke a bone in his hand recently and this injury may stop him playing for the rest of the season. R. McNicholl, who has a foot injury, did not play last Saturday and it is doubtful if he will be fit for two or three weeks.

Two Merivale forwards, J. Turner and D. Skelton, who injured a leg and ribs respectively last Saturday, are both expected to play on Saturday - •" L B. TrevSlla has not yet recovered from a back injury he received several weeks ago and will not be available Gibbs and R. Steele, who are suffering from knee injuries, are also unfit .for Saturday. There is a possibility that Gibbs will be out for the season.

The Sunnyside-Spreydon players D. Hill and K. Andrew, are doubtful players for Saturday. Both played last week although they were suffering from injuries received the previous week. Hill has an injured leg and wrist and Kendrew a chest injury. The Sydenham forward, B. Wilson, ,Slf|jhtly sprained his ankle-last week and he will probably be rested this week. M. Jackson and H. Fox left the-Held last week .with bruised legs but have been reported fit for Satur- • -vlt is doubtful if B. Logan and G. Sibley will be available for Technical this Saturday. Both left the field last week suffering from ankle injuries. The first , five-eighths, J. Waine, suffered a bruised heel when flaying for Canterbury, against the ’West Coast on Saturday but he will probably play.
