CANTERBURY PLAYERS WIN SOUTHLAND TITLES (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL. June 4. Scoring three points on the final end. D. R. Fleming (Canterbury) narrowly beat E. Quy (Greymouth) in the singles final at the Southland Indoor Bowls Association’s centennial tournament in Invercargill today. Fleming won 21-20 after trailing for most of the match. His win gave Canterbury two of the three titles decided at the tournament. A Canterbury team won the pairs, and a Southland rink took the fours.
