R. YOUNG WINS BOTH LEGS OF DOUBLE (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 3. An Addington trainer-driver, R. Young won both legs of the Wellington Trotting Club’s double on Saturday, the first with Gay Lad and the second with Special Attack, which he also trains. The combination paid £3O 15s for £l. The weather was fine and overcast, and the tiack heavy. There was a good at-t-ndance and the totalisator handled £53,460 15s. including £5703 15s on the double, an increase of £ll2 15s on last year’s first-day turnover. K. F. Primmer, who was leading with Vanguard in the Randwick Handicap, pulled the horse off the track with a round to go. He explained that he had misjudged the number of rounds. He was fined £lO. With about two furlongs and a half to go in the Au Revoir Handicap. Major Ferguson slipped and broke and checked Tassel Trick and Pedlar, whose sulky wheels became locked. Manunda collided with Lady Nelson at the start of the Improvers’ Handicap, and Ladv Nelson lost all chance. She was pulled up with a buckled sulky wheel, and took no further part in the race.

T. G. Payne was cautioned about his driving of Earl Louise in the same race and warned to exercise more care. In the Ct-ki Handicap, Silver Image ran in and checked several runners. A.
