SOUTH ISLAND HILL CLIMB
RESULTS CONFIRMED WITH CHANGES
The results of the South Island hill climb championship, published in “The Press” on April 23, have been officially confirmed with the following changes:—
J. F. Tutton (Jaguar XKI2OC), K. G. Finlayson (Ford) and R. Biggs (Shadbolt Special) did not qualify because they completed only the practice run.
At a meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Car Club the protest of M. F. Stanton and C. W. N. Stanton was withdrawn. In a statement to the committee they said they had entered the protest because they had understood from an official of the club that they had been disqualified. It subsequently transpired that they had been mistakenly advised of their being disqualified.
On the motion of the president (Mr a.' \ Paton), the committee decided that for all future events held on roads application would be made for an allday closure from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m with an undertaking to open the roads at convenient intervals to allow any traffic through. It would apply to road races, hill climbs, and sprint events.
