PRIVACY SOUGHT FOR QUEEN

Week’s Holiday In Mediterranean (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, March 6. Buckingham Palace has asked the British newspapers to leave the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in privacy during their week’s Mediterranean cruise in the Royal Yacht. In a letter to the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association the Queen’s Press Secretary (Commander Richard Colville) says: “As has been announced. the Queen will fly to Corsica on March 19 to join the Duke of Edinburgh in the Britannia for a week’s private cruise. "I therefore am writing to inquire whether your members would be so kind as to help Her Majesty and His Royal Highness to enjoy the short respite by leaving the trip as free as possible from newspaper and public attention. "A similar request is being made to the press of the countries on the neighbouring shores of the Mediterranean, and I trust it will be possible for your members to refrain from sending photographers and reporters to the western Mediterranean during the time in question.”
