The New Zealand colts team beat Northwest Colts today by an innings and 164 runs, with 10 minutes to spare, after an impressive display of batting, bowling, and fielding. J. D. Capstick scored the first century of the tour, and P. T. Barton (71.) and N. R. Thompson (not out 52) were the main contributors to New Zealand’s total of 329 for five wickets declared.

The North-west batsmen offered little resistance to the bowling of Haskell and Pearson, and were dismissed for 97. Following on, the team collapsed and scored only 68. Pearson took four for 24 and one for 8, Haskell three for 21 and five for 33, 'and Tarrant one for 30 and three for 16.
