MR C. H. WALLIS BUYS WILSHIRE
NEXT RACES AT OTAGO HUNT MEETING "The Press" Special Service DUNEDIN, August 11. Wilshire has been sold by Mr J. S. McKay to Mr C. H. Wallis, of Dunedin, and will be trained at his new owner’s farm at East Taieri. Mr McKay was recently appointed starter for the Dunedin Jockey Club. He will be the starter at the Otago Hunt Club’s meeting on August 20. A half-brother to the Wellington Cup winner. Prawns, Wilshire was a failure on the flat,. but he made a quick return for Mr McKay by winning the B. S. Irwin Steeplechase at the Otago Hunt meeting 12 months ago. The Christopher Robin gelding won the Orepuki Steeplechase at Invercargill in May. He is engaged in the steeplechase events at the Otago Hunt meeting this month. Mr Wallis, who owns the smart three-year-old Cashmere, made a successful entry into racing a few years ago as the owner-trainer of Gay John.
